After the damage
A Contractor in Your Corner After the Damage
Water damage never comes at a good time. A hurricane, a flash flood, a frozen pipe upstairs, a supply line under the sink: one bad night and you're looking at wet drywall, buckled floors and a phone full of insurance numbers.
You shouldn't have to fight the paperwork and the rebuild alone. Lacoste & Young works directly with your insurance adjuster on storm and water damage jobs. We help document the damage, scope the repair so nothing gets missed, and then rebuild your home with the same team and the same care we bring to every remodel.
Because we're a full-service remodeling company, the rebuild doesn't stop at patching what was there. Kitchens, bathrooms, floors and walls come back finished, and if you want to upgrade while the room is open, we'll show you what that would take.

Lacoste and young went above and beyond on helping me with my repairs after I had a pipe bust in my home ruining my floors, my insurance company wouldn't reason on what needed to be replaced. Jacob called my adjuster and got everything covered for me with out me having to pay anything. Out of pocket. I was so pleased with all they did that I went ahead and hired them to do my kitchen remodel, and on this project they once again were amazing. I highly recommend them for your remodels.

What we repair
Water Damage Repair and Rebuilding
Every water damage job is different, but the rebuild usually touches the same parts of the house.
Burst pipes and leaks
A frozen pipe or a failed supply line can soak a ceiling, a wall and the floor below it. We rebuild the drywall, ceilings, flooring and finishes it ruined.
Storm and roof-leak damage
Wind-driven rain and roof leaks show up as stained ceilings, wet insulation and damaged walls. Once the roof is sound, we repair the interior.
Flood damage
Rising water ruins flooring, the bottom of walls, cabinets and doors. We rebuild those rooms finished, not patched.
Local conditions
Water Damage in Baton Rouge Homes
South Louisiana gives water plenty of ways in. Hurricane season runs from June through November, summer storms drop inches of rain in an afternoon, and the occasional hard freeze can split pipes in homes that were never built for one. Add aging supply lines and water heaters in older houses, and most homeowners deal with water damage at some point.
Many Baton Rouge homes sit on slab foundations, so when water gets in it spreads across the floor quickly: under cabinets, into the bottom of walls and through every room on the same flooring. That's why a small leak can turn into new floors in half the house. Acting fast and documenting everything protects both your home and your claim.
Once the repairs are done, it's worth thinking about the next storm. Our guide to hurricane-resistant home upgrades covers the changes that help a Baton Rouge home stand up to wind and water.
Better than before
Upgrade While You Rebuild
When the drywall is already open and the floors are already up, it's the cheapest moment you'll ever have to make a change. Many homeowners use the rebuild to upgrade: the kitchen they always wanted, a walk-in shower instead of the old tub, one flooring run through the whole house.
Your insurance covers the repair; any upgrade beyond it is your choice and your cost, and we'll show you the difference clearly. A bad day can end with a better home.
Jacob and his team were fantastic to work with. We hired them to handle repairs after flood damage, and they exceeded all expectations. The quality of their work was outstanding, and they went above and beyond to ensure everything was done right. Their professionalism and clear, consistent communication made the entire process smooth and stress-free. I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of reliable, top-notch contractor.

I met Jacob at my daughter's remodel 1/19/2024. I told him my condo was damaged from upstair's neighbor frozen pipe. He came to my condo immediately and profided me with an estimate. After receiving insurance funds, condo work started on 2/03/2024. The workers clean up each day. I am very, very satisfied with work done and the attention to my requests and it was completed in a short period of time. I highly recommend

After the very recent freeze, despite taking all precautions to avoid this situation,
a pipe still burst in my home, causing insulation and ceiling damage. Despite flooding, my brick paver floors withstood the excessive water... thank goodness!

Questions
Storm and Water Damage Questions
Do you work with my insurance company?
Yes. On storm and water damage jobs we work directly with your insurance adjuster, help document the damage and scope the repair, then rebuild.
Do I have to use my insurance company's preferred contractor?
Usually not; most policies let you choose your own contractor. Check your policy and ask your adjuster if you're unsure.
Can you start before my claim is settled?
We can see the damage, help document it and give you an estimate right away. The rebuild schedule depends on your claim, and we'll keep you and your adjuster on the same page.
What if the damage is only in one room?
Small jobs matter too. A leak under a kitchen sink or a stained ceiling from a bathroom upstairs gets the same care as a whole-house rebuild, and catching it early usually keeps it small.
Will the repair match the rest of my house?
That's the goal. We match flooring, trim, paint and finishes where they're still available, and tell you up front when an exact match isn't possible.
Can I upgrade while you rebuild?
Yes. Insurance covers the repair; any upgrade beyond it is your choice and your cost, and we'll show you the difference clearly before work starts.
